Just as their toxicity is excessive consumption, they are also going to their own medicine, as I see exchanges almost on every corner. Neighbors leave things they no longer need on their sidewalks, leaving them clean and well cared for. It's clear they have a lot of affection for "those things" that have held great emotional value in their lives. It's also common to find "buy nothing" ads online—where people give things away—and garage sales during the changing seasons. The population mutates, changing emotions and styles.
